Terms and conditions

Welcome to the Fly Greener carbon offset programme of Cathay Pacific Airways Limited ("Cathay Pacific"). Please read the following terms and conditions carefully. By making a contribution to our carbon offset solution, you acknowledge and agree to these terms.

  1. These terms and conditions apply to the Cathay Pacific Fly Greener carbon offset programme (the "Fly Greener Programme").

  2. Any contribution you make to the Fly Greener Programme is voluntary.

  3. Your contribution will be used to acquire verified emission reductions ("VERs") from projects accredited under the Voluntary Carbon Standard or an equivalent or higher standard chosen by Cathay Pacific in its sole discretion. While Cathay Pacific takes all reasonable care to select VERs from projects, it makes no warranty with regard to the environmental or other benefits of those projects.

  4. The emissions displayed are an estimate only, calculated based on historical flight data with reference to IATA’s recommended practice of CO2 emissions calculation released in 2022. While Cathay Pacific makes every effort to ensure accuracy, the calculated emissions should not be relied upon as an accurate record of your actual emissions. We accept no liability if this calculation is incorrect or does not accurately reflect the actual greenhouse gas emissions attributable to your booked flight. 

  5. The cost of carbon offset is projected based on an estimation of the emissions associated with your booked flight. Due to limitations of the booking platform, the final cost may be rounded up, and therefore this estimate may differ from the figures provided on our Fly Greener website. 

  6. Cathay Pacific does not make any profit from the sale of carbon offsets. 

  7. A fixed handling fee is added to the cost of carbon offsets sold through our booking platform. This handling fee is collected by a third-party transaction platform for executing the transaction and is not included in the contribution of the carbon offset project. 

  8. Your contribution is non-refundable as the carbon offset contribution will be processed regardless of whether your flight is subsequently cancelled or modified. 

  9. While Cathay Pacific has taken reasonable care to ensure the accuracy of the information relating to carbon offsetting provided on its website, this information may be subject to change at any time without notice to you. Cathay Pacific will not be liable for any inaccuracies in this information and does not guarantee that the information is up-to-date at all times, and excludes liability to the fullest extent permitted by any relevant law.

  10. Cathay Pacific may cancel or suspend the Fly Greener Programme in its absolute discretion at any time without giving notice to you.

  11. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. We may amend these terms and conditions at any time without notice to you. It is your responsibility to check for changes each time you make a new contribution.

  12. This document should be read in conjunction with the Cathay Pacific Privacy Notice and other terms and conditions which apply to the use of the Cathay Pacific website.
