Member-exclusive 24-hour free cancellation
Terms and Conditions
- “24-hour free cancellation” (the “Service”) is the option and service provided by Cathay Pacific to allow Cathay membership programme (“Cathay”) members to cancel flight bookings on the terms and conditions set out herein. Besides these terms and conditions, please refer to the conditions of contract that are printed on your itinerary receipt and Cathay Pacific’s general conditions of carriage for passengers and baggage.
- The Service is only available for bookings made on the Cathay Pacific official website (cathaypacific.com), official mobile application (Cathay Pacific app) or the Cathay Pacific WeChat Mini Program.
- The Service is only available within the first 24 hours after the booking was made. The cutoff time and date to cancel the booking without paying any additional fees will be shown on the payment page and on the confirmation email.
- Effective from 3 Jun 2024, the Service will not be available for tickets booked with a discount code.
- The Service is only applicable to fully unused tickets. Reissued, split and rebooked tickets are not eligible.
- The Service is not applicable to “Hold your fare” tickets.
- Only Cathay members who have added their membership number or signed up for the membership during the booking process are eligible for the benefit. If the membership number was added after the booking process, the customer will not be eligible for the 24-hour free cancellation.
- The Service is not available for flights (first sector) departing within eight days (192 hours).
- Interline and codeshare flights booked through Cathay Pacific official website (cathaypacific.com),official mobile application (Cathay Pacific app) or Cathay Pacific WeChat Mini Program are eligible under this policy.
- Travel extras including without limitation the Travel insurance and “Hold your fare” service fee are non-refundable under this policy.
- The Service is not applicable to hotel bookings, package bookings, group bookings, Asia Miles Flight Awards bookings, MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions) bookings, land and sea transport (codeshare services). Cathay Pacific have the sole and absolute discretion on whether “24-hour free cancellation” is available for any flight, package or booking.
- Tax and fuel surcharge will also be refunded under “24-hour free cancellation”.
- Refund requests must be submitted on the Cathay Pacific official website or via mobile app through Manage Booking > Rebook and refund. Refund requests made through our online refund form, Customer Care or live chat are not eligible and will not be processed.
- Your refund will take seven working days for credit card and Pay Pal transactions. Otherwise, it may take up to 20 calendar days.
- If you have paid with Miles Plus Cash, the portion redeemed with Miles will be refunded back to the Cathay membership account that the Miles were deducted from.
- If you purchased your ticket directly through the Cathay Pacific official website, mobile app or WeChat Mini Program and have submitted your refund requests through Manage Booking, you can log into Manage Booking to check your refund status for the past 90 days.
- These terms and conditions do not apply to the US site of the Cathay Pacific official website as online bookings made through the US website seven days before departure is entitled to full refund within 24 hours after booking creation.
- To the extent permitted by applicable law, Cathay Pacific reserves the right to revise these terms and conditions at any time without notice.
- In case of any discrepancy between the English version and any translated version of these terms and conditions, the English version shall prevail.
- To the extent permitted by applicable law, these terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Hong Kong.
- To the extent permitted by applicable law, any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms and conditions and/or the Service that cannot be amicably resolved between Cathay Pacific and the passenger will be submitted to the jurisdiction of the courts of Hong Kong.
