Fire Dragon Dance

Location: Tai Hang

Every Mid-Autumn Festival, the 140-year-old tradition brings together 300 performers carrying a 67-metre-long dragon covered in incense sticks to wind through the streets.

Tai O Fishing Village

Location: Lantau

Often described as the “Venice of the East”, slow-paced Tai O is set around a mellow canal that’s hugged by hills. Explore the area with a sampan (local boat) ride or take off on foot.

Ladies’ Market

Location: Tung Choi Street, Mong Kok

Buy cheap accessories with a little haggling in the lanes around Ladies' Market. Part of the area is covered by the durable ‘red-white-blue’ nylon canvas that signify the city’s resilience.

Claypot

Claypot is a winter staple and local flavour of Hong Kong. Clay pots are used because of their qualities in providing even heating. The base of most claypot meals is rice, and often include one of the many unique varieties of Cantonese preserved sausage.

Lok Wah South Estate

Location: Kwun Tong

The public housing blocks of Lok Wah South Estate feature interesting architectural designs. The sky blue walls on the rooftop of its dedicated car park - including perfectly placed holes and symmetric lines overhead - add whimsical character to the space.
