In-town check-in
If you’re taking the Airport Express to Hong Kong International Airport, you can take advantage of our in-town self-service check-in and bag drop facilities. Our ambassadors will be onsite to provide assistance if you require help during the self-service process.
At Hong Kong station and Kowloon station, you can drop off your bags once you complete your online check-in as early as 24 hours in advance and up to 90 minutes before your scheduled flight departure time during service hours. Please use the self-service kiosks to print your baggage tag and proceed to the self-service bag drop machines. Note: that the maximum size of a check-in baggage that can be accepted is 145 x 100 x 85 cm.
Please note self-service check-in and bag-drop are only available for passengers holding valid electronic travel documents. Note: our in-town check-in locations are unable to process bookings with infants, upgrades, instant redemption of excess baggage and extra leg room seats, group and agency bookings, and special services.*

- To check in for codeshare flights at in-town check-in, passengers should proceed to the operating carrier’s counters for assistance.
- To comply with the requirements from the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA), we cannot issue a boarding pass to a passenger departing for US destination more than 24 hours prior to scheduled flight departure time.

Our check-in counters are located on Level 7 (Departures) at Terminal 1, which is easily accessible for those arriving at the airport by train or taxi.
Check-in counters are located in Aisle A, B and C of the check-in hall.
Eligible Cathay members, passengers and oneworld members* are invited to use our dedicated check-in area and counters located in Aisle B. Alternatively, we also offer self-service check-in kiosks and bag drop facilities in Aisle B from 05:00 - 01:00.
Passengers travelling in Premium Economy and Economy classes may use our self-service check-in kiosks and bag drop machines in:
- Aisle A from 05:00 - 01:00
- Aisle C from 04:00 - 01:00
- Aisle E from 05:00 - 21:00
If you need assistance with check-in, counters are available in Aisle C.
If you’re travelling on a direct flight to the United States or your passport does not contain a biometric chip (i.e. an ‘e-passport’), please proceed to counter check-in where one of our airport team will be happy to assist.
*Eligible passengers include our Diamond, Gold and Silver members, First and Business Class passengers, as well as oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members.

Our First class passengers can experience Cathay Pacific’s award-winning First class services at the Hong Kong International Airport, where we offer ten dedicated check-in counters.
First Class: Aisle B
Cathay Pacific's Business passengers have their own special check-in area which can be found on Aisle B.
Premium Economy: Aisle C
We've introduced the single queue concept so that you can enjoy quicker, hassle-free check-in service.
Economy Class: Aisle A, C
Note:
In compliance with the requirements from Hong Kong Civil Aviation, Cathay Pacific will implement a full reconciliation of passenger travel document check at the boarding gate of Hong Kong International Airport, by comparing the name on the passenger's boarding pass with the name in the travel document, and by comparing the photograph in the document with the passenger if the passenger is unable to proceed using the self-boarding system by biometric facial recognition.
