Confucius Temple Qinhuai Scenic Area
The epitome of prosperity in ancient China, the area is home to historical treasures such as Confucius Temple and the Jiangnan Examination Hall. The buildings may have changed a little over time, but the age-old buildings remain a popular draw for tourists.

A revered statesman credited with overthrowing the Qing empire, Sun Yat-sen continues to command widespread respect long after his death. His mausoleum, a complex that exudes grandeur, is located in the Zhongshan Mountain Scenic Area. A stone stairway of 392 steps leads up to the tomb hall, which houses a marble statue of Sun created by renowned French sculptor Paul Landowski.
A district lined with old buildings from the Republic of China period, including the former presidential residence, Nanjing 1912 is best known for its plethora of bars of different styles that cater to different tastes.

Keyi is a well-known spot on the local cultural scene, housing various Chinese paintings by contemporary Chinese artists and hosting a wide range of art shows. There’s also a bookshop downstairs. Visitors here often get to meet local artists.

The picturesque, remarkably green park served as a naval training ground during the Eastern Jin Dynasty and was later turned into an imperial garden. A stroll around the lake is Nanjing at its most relaxing.
A trendy shopping destination popular among with the younger crowd, Taotaoxiang is also an ideal place for souvenir shopping. A bonus is the wild and colourful graffiti on the shop walls - a rarity in Nanjing.
