Practise kung-fu at Shaolin Temple
Located at the foothills of Mount Song, Shaolin Temple is the revered home of martial arts that has enlightened countless kung-fu practitioners. Its fame has been immortalised by Hong Kong novelist Louis Cha Leung-yung's martial-arts books, as well as action movies such as superstar Jet Li's The Shaolin Temple.
Known as Zhong Yue (middle mountain) of the Five Great Mountains, the mid-sized Mount Song can be tackled via a fairly easy climb but the easiest way up is by cable car.
Weiyi Road used to be home to the largest number of bars in Zhengzhou. Today, the number has shrunk but the nightlife remains alive and kicking. Nali Garden, located within the Weiyi Road bar area, is a magnet for office workers and young couples who favour its sophisticated décor and European feel.

Longmen Grottoes
Situated in the suburb of Luoyang, Longmen Grottoes are known as one of the three greatest groups of Buddhist grottoes in China, along with Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes in Gansu Province, and Yungang Grottes near Datong, Shanxi Province. Luoyang is a two-hour drive from central Zhengzhou.

Guancheng District has one of the largest Muslim communities in China. It is where Arab culture meets, mingles and melts with Chinese culture. The vibe of multiculturalism finds expression not least in food, as demonstrated by this restaurant that serves Chinese Islamic cuisine.
