Faneuil Hall Marketplace
This lively marketplace is made up of three 19th century buildings -- the South Market, the North Market and Quincy Market -- and exudes an infectious energy that isn't found in any other part of the city. The shops here include big brands such as Victoria's Secret to local artisans and craftsmen showcasing talented masterpieces. The colourful street performers and outdoor cafés keep the marketplace festive all year round.
Regarded as one of the two or three finest halls in the world, Symphony Hall opened in 1900 and was the first concert hall designed with acoustical principles in mind. No matter where you sit, you can enjoy crisp sound quality and a great view of the musical performance before you.
An unabashed beer town, Boston is the home to many fine breweries. The most famous of these is named after one of America's revolutionary leaders -- Samuel Adams -- a patriot who was also an enthusiastic brewer. Taste the malts, smell the hops and experience the brewing process here from start to finish.
The world’s oldest commissioned warship, dubbed "Old Ironsides" for its seemingly impenetrable oak hull, was launched in 1797. Marvel at its hulking masts and 52 brass cannons on free tours led by active-duty sailors. There's a free museum next door where you can go to learn more about its exciting history.
Visitors can experience some of the most treasured, historical sites of the American Revolution by walking the Freedom Trail, a red-brick 4km path that leads to 16 nationally recognised historical markers.
The undisputed home for Boston's best seafood, Atlantic Fish Co. is a restaurant decked out like an ocean vessel with gorgeous wood finishes and nautical artwork. The seafood here is so fresh that the menus are printed daily to reflect the morning's catch. Signature dishes include New England clam chowder, Maine Lobster Pot Pie and Swordfish Chop.
The oldest Italian café in Boston, Caffe Vittoria glistens with marble-topped tables, mirors and shiny vintage espresso machines. Come here to learn more about antique brew technology and try the excellent caffe latte, grappa or fresh cannoli.
