Salute to the capital
Washington DC is like no other city in the U.S.; within its relatively compact borders, you’ll experience one of the most cosmopolitan mixes of people, history, and culture – and lots of great museums. Guardian of the city’s most acclaimed treasures, the Smithsonian Institution – the world’s largest museum complex – houses more than 138 million objects and works of art. Other institutions are no less impressive, including the Newseum and the International Spy Museum, and worth a stop before visiting the iconic sites like the White House, the Capitol, and the various memorials.
Beyond the buildings, however, ‘DC’ is a sociable place, with countless great dining and drinking options. Try the many restaurants and bars in Penn Quarter, Capitol Hill, Adams Morgan and U Street for some of the more popular tables in town.
